π’ Fully Funded Education Opportunity for Ugandan Youth
The Forum for African Women Educationalists Uganda (FAWEU), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has officially opened applications for the FAWEU Bursary Program 2026/2027. This initiative aims to support academically capable but financially disadvantaged young Ugandans to access quality education and transition successfully into the workforce.
This bursary is part of a 7-year regional program (2024β2030) targeting Sub-Saharan Africa, with Uganda set to benefit significantly through 2,000 supported students, including 600 bursaries available this academic year alone.
Overview of the FAWEU Bursary Program
For the 2026/2027 academic year, a total of 600 bursaries have been allocated across two main education pathways:
1οΈβ£ Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC) β 400 Slots
- Designed for students who do not meet direct university entry requirements
- Provides a 1-year bridging program
- Successful candidates transition into fully funded degree programs (3β4 years)
- 80% reserved for female applicants, 20% for male applicants

- Islamic University in Uganda
- Kampala International University (Western Campus)
- Lira University, Soroti University, and others
2οΈβ£ Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) β 200 Slots
- Focuses on practical, hands-on training in STEM-related fields
- Programs run for 2β3 years (Certificate or Diploma level)

- Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba
- Gulu School of Health Sciences
- Mulago & Jinja Nursing Schools

π₯ Who is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
π General Requirements
- Ugandan nationals aged 18β25 years
(Up to 30 years for refugees and persons with disabilities) - Must be from one of the 65 targeted districts across Uganda
- Completed UCE or UACE between 2022 and 2025
- Must not be receiving another scholarship or bursary
- Must be willing to give back to their community after completion

- Students from low-income backgrounds
- Refugees
- Persons with disabilities (PWDs)
- Orphans and vulnerable youth
π Specific Academic Requirements
πΉ For TVET Applicants:
- UACE: At least one principal pass
- OR UCE: Minimum five passes (no F9 in relevant subjects)
- OR CBC: Grades AβC
- Must enroll in STEM-related courses only
πΉ For HEAC Applicants:
- UACE: At least one principal pass or two subsidiary passes
- OR equivalent qualifications recognized by NCHE/UNEB
