About the Role (HR Officer – Kampala, Uganda)
Raising The Village is hiring an HR Officer – Talent Acquisition in Kampala, Uganda to support recruitment, onboarding, and HR operations across its growing field programs.
This role is ideal for professionals seeking NGO HR jobs in Uganda or talent acquisition roles in Kampala, especially within international development organizations.
You will play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and managing HR data systems that support programs impacting over one million lives across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment (50%)
- Support organization-wide recruitment strategy and staffing needs
- Manage full recruitment cycle: job adverts, screening, interviews, contracts
- Source candidates using job boards, outreach, and networking channels
- Develop job descriptions and interview tools
- Maintain candidate database and talent pipelines
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation of new employees
- Manage employee benefits enrollment and HR documentation
- Ensure smooth onboarding experience for new hires
HR Data Management (20%)
- Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files
- Manage HR databases, leave trackers, and performance records
- Ensure HR data compliance with privacy and security policies
- Support HR Information System (HRIS) administration
- Generate HR reports and maintain workforce data accuracy
HR Operations Support
- Assist in staff engagement and HR administrative tasks
- Support training and development coordination
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance in HR processes
- Maintain confidentiality of all HR information
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
- Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management (advantage)
- 3–4 years experience in HR or recruitment roles
- Experience in full-cycle recruitment and onboarding
- Strong HR data management and HRIS experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience working in NGO or international development sector preferred
Work Environment
- Based in Kampala, Uganda
- High field travel requirement (80%)
- Temporary contract (4 months)
