The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is responsible for constructing and operating the 1,443-kilometre crude oil export pipeline connecting Kabaale in Hoima District, Uganda, to the Port of Tanga in Tanzania. The project promotes regional development through infrastructure investment, employment creation, technology transfer, and sustainable energy development while upholding the values of Safety, Mutual Respect, Innovation, Unity, and Excellence.
Job Summary
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is seeking ambitious and motivated graduates to join its Electrical Graduate Trainee Programme. This opportunity is designed to provide recent Electrical Engineering graduates with hands-on experience in the installation, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical systems supporting one of East Africa’s largest energy infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers while gaining practical exposure to project execution, commissioning, power distribution systems, instrumentation, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering Support
- Assist in monitoring the installation of electrical equipment across EACOP project sites.
- Support electrical engineering activities during project execution, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Participate in inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of electrical installations.
Engineering Documentation
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, maintenance records, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure engineering records are accurate and up to date.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support compliance with EACOP Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Follow engineering best practices and industry regulations.
- Promote safe working practices across project sites.
Team Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, operations, and project teams.
- Participate in structured learning, mentorship, and professional development activities.
- Build technical competencies through practical field experience.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum academic qualification of Second Class Upper Division or above.
- Graduated within the last 1โ2 years.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Membership or eligibility for registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and/or the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) is an added advantage.
