About the Role
Pearl Bank Uganda is seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to design, deploy, and maintain secure and fault-tolerant IT networks. The ideal candidate will ensure the bank’s IT infrastructure operates at maximum uptime while safeguarding against cyber threats.
Reports to: Manager, Business Technology Infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of mission-critical data communication links by monitoring uptime, latency, and throughput.
- Provide regular reports on network performance to support continuous service improvements.
- Design and implement new network solutions or enhance existing network efficiency.
- Secure network access by establishing connections, defining access policies, configuring secure protocols, and managing VPNs.
- Perform software upgrades and replace faulty network hardware components as needed.
- Ensure that the bank’s IT infrastructure remains modern and compliant with current technologies.
- Maintain an updated inventory of all network devices.
- Recommend improvements to network performance, scalability, and capacity.
- Liaise with network service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Identify and resolve operational issues on end-users’ computer systems.
- Monitor systems for anomalies, updates, and patch management in coordination with the information security team.
- Maintain system documentation and configuration data for regulatory and audit purposes.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, CCNA Security, or ITIL are an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role at a reputable organization.
- Solid understanding of network concepts: VLANs, routing, IP sub-netting, access control lists, encryption, authentication, and IP packet forwarding.
- Hands-on experience with Next Gen Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and Identity Services Engine.
- Strong conceptual knowledge of OSI model layers.
- Proficient in managing computers, servers, virtualization, Linux, and other operating systems.
- Experience with multi-vendor hardware: Cisco, F5, Juniper, Mikrotik, Checkpoint, FortiGate, Palo Alto, etc.
